Event Overview

WorldFood Istanbul 2023 was held September 6–9, 2023, at the TUYAP Fair Convention & Congress Center in Istanbul. As Turkey’s largest international food expo, it featured 1,000+ exhibitors and drew attendees from 70+ countries—including European, MENA, and Central Asian buyers. The expo showcased functional foods, agri-tech innovations, cold-chain logistics, and traceability solutions, positioning Turkey as a critical bridge between Europe and the Middle East.

AGI Holding’s Participation

  • Oyster Mushroom Farm Showcase:
    • AGI presented a seed-to-shelf exhibit illustrating:
      1. Mycelium Lab: Live Petri dish cultures demonstrating strain purity and spawn preparation.
      2. Compost Station: Display of substrate mixtures, highlighting nutrient profiles and pasteurization.
      3. Greenhouse Visuals: Photographs and a short video of Turkish grow tents producing four harvests per year.
      4. Packaging Display: Fresh and dried oyster mushroom products, with packaging labeling (EU organic, Halal).
  • Chef Masterclasses (4 Sessions):
    • Led by Istanbul chef Leila Öztürk, classes covered “Oyster Mushroom in Modern Turkish Cuisine,” showing quick stir-fries, salads, and vegetarian kebabs featuring AGI’s Oyster Mushroom Farm produce. Each session drew 50+ participants and sparked post-class buyer inquiries.
  • Traceability Kiosk:
    • An interactive touchscreen allowed prospective European and MENA buyers to input batch codes and view real-time lab test results, substrate formulas, and shelf-life projections. QR codes on packaging samples linked directly to the digital traceability system.
  • Buyer Workshops:
    • Hosted guided tours for 25 priority buyers (German, Dutch, UAE, Lebanese importers), offering deep dives into yield projections (target 200 tonnes/year), farming costs, and certification status (EU organic, Halal). Provided detailed export logistics breakdowns, including Fitosanitary requirements for EU markets.
